1.  Take The 2010 Challenge: Say "Hello" to all the World!:

Manners, civility, kindness and customer service!  These are all vital character qualities and skills as Vancouver prepares to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Yes the world has come for the Olympics!  But the world was really already here!  But the Olympics give us a great reminder to reach out and show kindness and hospitality to the wonderful multicultural community that has come to live in Vancouver.

Get to know your neighbours.  Invite them over for coffee or dinner!  They work at your company and go to your school and play on your soccer teams!

Getting to know someone starts by smiling and saying "Hello!"  It's even more special if you can learn to say "hi!" in their language.  Of course they speak English or are trying to learn, but their first language is the language of their heart!

          TAKE THE 2010 Challenge!

Take the Olympic challenge by learning to say "Hi!" in the language of everyone at your school, church, temple, mosque, team, etc.  It can be our way of being an Ambassador for 2010.

See links below to:

2.  Become a 2010 Ambassador with Judi The Manners Lady

Learn Respectful Attitude, Respectful Words and Respectful Actions!  Host a Training Session/Concert with Judi The Manners Lady or other Manners Coaches.

3.  Build "Team Canada" as your school adopts and Olympic Athlete!

2010 –an exciting opportunity to get to know and cheer our Canadian athletes on to victory!

And what a wonderful opportunity for the children of Canada to get to know and cheer for our own athletes who will be competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Schools– preschools, elementary and high schools across the province and the country are invited to choose a Canadian Olympic athlete that they would like to get to know, write letters to, learn about their sport, and encourage him or her to win and do well.

4Be Courteous.  Thank you all for entering the MOST POLITE Courtesy Awards Contest!

Watch for the winners, to be announced soon at National Character Awards Ceremony

Start thinking about the new MOST POLITE Courtesy Awards Contest coming in October 2008 for National Manners Month!  Do you know someone who consistently lives with great manners, kindness, and character? Someone who has served you respectfully at a local business? A child? A teenager? A professional or amateur athlete who is a good role model for kids? Even a politician with character, integrity and manners?

In 100 words or less, nominate a person who has great manners, and who lives with kindness, courtesy and good character.  For more details or inquiries, please contact us or call 1-886-ASK-JUDI.

Dear Friends,

Can you imagine what our country could look like if for one month each year, everyone in our nation focused on good manners—

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • The Golden Rule
  • and an attitude of gratitude?

People would be polite: no road rage, no school yard bullying, no harassment or dishonesty in the office, Families would be strengthened as children learned the value of honouring and respecting their parents and elders and of each of us being kind to each other.

Everyone—from the President, Governors, Mayors and City Councilors to schools, businesses, parents and grandparents, children and teenagers, service clubs, churches and sports teams, would focus on politeness. Our law enforcement officials agree that focusing on manners and respect is a positive and proactive way of dealing with crime. If people are respecting each other and their property, they won't be stealing, speeding, or breaking the law!

As a nation, let's remind our nation of the values and virtues that made us a strong country, and join together to celebrate National Manners Month this October.. and all year long!

It's all about our character. Manners are an outward expression of our inward character. As a nation-and as communities across the country, let's keep our families strong by becoming "Character Communities" and by joining together to celebrate National Manners Month... all year long!

Let us know how you would like to help your family, business, school and community celebrate National Manners Month this October!

If you share this vision to impact our community with these foundational principles, join the National Manners Month Team! Help support the project by making a tax deductible donation! Call us at 1-866-275-5834!

Respectfully yours,
